Rehabilitation for Shoulder Instability:

A Functional MRI Study

 

Do you feel pain or apprehension with certain shoulder movements?

Do you have a have a sensation that your shoulder is sliding, clicking or unstable?

You could be eligible for 6 months FREE physiotherapy!

Melbourne Shoulder Group and Swinburne University are investigating the effect of a 6 Month Exercise Program on brain structure and function in patients with a shoulder problem called Multidirectional Instability (MDI).

Participants will be required to:

  • Attend a 45-minute assessment of the shoulder at Melbourne Shoulder group (Prahran, 3181)

  • See one of our shoulder physiotherapists for 18 sessions over 24 weeks to be given a set of shoulder strengthening exercises to perform at home.

  • Attend a 60-minute functional MRI scan at Swinburne University of Technology before starting the program and on completion.

 

To qualify for this trial participants must be:

  • Female

  • Have a RIGHT sided shoulder problem

  • Between 18 and 35 years old

  • Have no history of significant trauma to the shoulder (no full shoulder dislocation)

  • No previous history of surgery to the shoulder
