Video consultations are available for new and current patients. Please call reception on 03 9228 0911 to organise a video appointment with your physiotherapist

You will be able to discuss your shoulder problem with our Physiotherapist in detail. Specifically, you will be questioned extensively about:

  • any injury or the gradual development of your symptoms,

  • your pain as well as other symptoms of stiffness, weakness, instability, pins & needles

  • the evolution of your symptoms and the movement or activities that aggravate or ease your symptoms

  • medication that you’re taking and procedures or interventions that you may have undertaken (Cortisone, Hydrodiliatation injections, Surgeries, other Physiotherapy)

  • Scans that you might have undergone (X-Ray, Ultrasound, MRI, CT, Doppler Ultra Sound)

  • How it’s affecting you daily life, your ability to work, exercise and enjoy your sports

At the completion of this discussion our Physiotherapist will need to see how you’re shoulder looks, moves, it’s good points and problems while discussing where and when it hurts.  To achieve this, you will be asked to disrobe.  For men that means topless, and for women, a bra with or without a singlet that exposes your shoulder blades.

During this physically examination our physio will:

  • examine your shoulder and shoulder blade from all angles,

  • ask you to move your arm in different directions while discussing your pain, symptoms or restrictions

At the end of the assessment our Physio will supply you with an impression regarding you’re problems and then specifically advise you on:

  1. managing your pain and symptoms

  2. modifying your daily life, exercise and sport to reduce your symptoms

  3. guide you where a referral for further investigations might be appropriate (a letter to GP, referral for scans or making time for a face to face assessment)

  4. Setting a tailored exercise and rehabilitation programme and then supplying video links or images for each exercise prescribed (we are currently in the process of setting this up).

Melbourne Shoulder Group has an extensive studio of tools that will guide you with your Telehealth assessment and rehabilitation:

  • Online questionnaires that can help to define and score your problem and measure ongoing improvements

  • Online videos and images of our specific exercises

  • Rehabilitation programmes for recovery of a variety of surgeries and shoulder conditions
